Weekend Kids #18: Surprise!

This is from 2009 when I was retooling the style of my old comic Rent Control.  I was intentionally using big fat sharpies and Crayola crayons, drawing simple shapes to try to find the whimsy again.  Anytime my work gets too careful it’s always good to take a step back and loosen it up again.
Weekend Kids is a chance to post something casual – a sketch, a re-run, or an archival comic from another series.

I drew this during a vacation in Vancouver in 2010 after being detained for an hour by the agriculture control officer for volunteering that I had a clementine in my backpack.
